Ear training

Music Teacher with Ear Training is a 2-year Master's programme (MMus) giving you the specialist knowledge, skills, and qualifications necessary to work as a music teacher at the very highest level. In addition, the programme aims to prepare you to be an enterprising, driving force in the music business.

You will study in a cross-disciplinary environment that gives you a broad understanding of music.

Cross-disciplinary collaboration

We collaborate closely with the Jazz/pop and Electronic music departments at the Academy who regularly make use of classical instrumentalists and singers in their projects. You also have good opportunities for seeking collaboration with students from these departments. In addition, you have ample opportunities for choir and ensemble work in many different contexts and styles.

The pedagogical programmes are executed in collaboration with music schools and Academy preparation courses throughout the region.

Teachers

Our teachers are experienced musicians and ear training teachers with years of work experience in the field.

Master’s degree (2 years)

All master’s (MMus) programmes include Entrepreneurial Studies and are concluded with a master’s project.

In addition to the Ear Training main area, the Music Teacher with Ear Training MMus programme includes development of student skills, teaching skills, piano, music theory, and theoretical pedagogy.

Read more about programme content in the MMus Music Teacher with Ear Training curriculum, available in the general overview of classical curricula.

Applicants for the programme typically have classical music degrees or a music teacher degree such as the AM (General Music Teacher). Admission requirements are a relevant bachelor’s degree and a passed admission test.
