How do you make vocal music sound just ‘right’ when it comes to styles such as pop, rock, jazz, gospel, world, improvisation, and vocal painting? Many choirs and a cappella groups face this challenge in rehearsal as well as in performances featuring these musical styles.
RAMA Vocal Center
Innovative Choir Leading studies at the European Voices Award-winning RAMA Vocal Center provides the answers to meet this challenge, where students from all over the World come to meet a renowned team of world-class teachers, ensuring the highest pedagogical and artistic level of all.
You will be taught by the creators of The Intelligent Choir philosophy & Vocal Painting, Singers’ Tools, Conductors’ Toolbox, Arranging & Interpretation Tools, and minor subjects like voice, piano, ear training, move & groove, beatboxing and concert design.

Standalone Master programme
Full-time study: You can specialize in Innovative Choir Leading at the very highest level through a standalone Master (MMus) programme, partly via distance learning opportunities:
Main subject – Bachelor
At Bachelor (BMus) level, you can choose Innovative Choir Leading as your main subject for one of the direction subjects possible under the programme:

Supplementary main subject – Master
At Master (MMus) level, you can choose Innovative Choir Leading as a supplementary main subject under the programmes
- General Music Teacher (AM) (Aarhus)
- Jazz/Pop Music Teacher (RM) (Aarhus)
- Jazz/Pop Music (IM) (Aalborg)
The Innovative Choir Conducting soloist programme is for students who have completed an MMus programme or have similar jazz/pop choir conducting qualifications, and who display an unusual aptitude for jazz/pop choir conducting.

Part-time study: The programme is a part-time study programme consisting of four semesters and corresponds to one study year of 60 ECTS. The programme will take place at RAMA Vocal Center Campus Aalborg and via online video conferencing.
The inspiration course is for music teachers and others with at least 2 years of work experience within music education and choir conducting. On each semester, classes are divided by level and include 3 boot camps.

Summer Camp 2020 (every 2nd year)
29 June – 2 July 2020
A unique four days Summer Camp for choral conductors is taking place every second year in Aalborg. Participants from the whole world come to RAMA Vocal Center to meet a renowned team of world-class teachers, ensuring the highest pedagogical and artistic level of rhythmic choral music.

Symposium 2021 (every 2nd year)
28-30 June 2021
Welcome to the 2019 Symposium on Vocal Painting (VOPA), an exclusive and fun learning experience facilitated by professor Jim Daus Hjernøe, the creator of The Intelligent Choir philosophy.
Participants from all over the world will be able to explore the latest news within the field, supervised by VOPA experts. Remote participation through high-speed video conferencing is an option as well.
We welcome everybody to join the Symposium and are happy to share experiences and teach Vocal Painting at all levels (Beginners to advanced). You will be asked about your experience when signing up.

Boot Camps in Aalborg
The boot camps in Aalborg are very intensive. For part-time students and course participants, they will join three boot camps per semester from Thursday at 12h to Saturday at 17h, with the participation of approximately 50 students within this field from RAMA Vocal Center.
Full-time students are joining the boot camps already from Monday at 12h to Saturday afternoon six times per year plus another two exclusive boot camps.
