Background and education:
Mo Yi was born in Wuhan, China, and had her first violin lessons as a five-year-old with Professor Teng Maolung.
Mo Yi finished her studies in China as a student under Professor Lin Yaoji at The Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

Key early achievements include:

  • Named “Best Student in Beijing”
  • Awarded the Chinese Ministry of Culture Prize
  • Awarded a scholarship from the German Academy Exchange Grant
  • (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, DAAD)
