Jazz/Pop Music (Aalborg) (new – KA)
The Master’s programme in Jazz/Pop Music in Aalborg builds on your skills as a musician/singer, songwriter/composer, and music teacher.
As a student in Aalborg, you become part of an international study environment, with inspiring fellow students and teachers and with room for high ambitions and 24/7 access to unique facilities.
The programme is characterized by two key principles: Specialization and flexibility.
The curriculum is structured around a constant focus on Main instrument/vocal studies and Ensemble Class. In addition, the main area of the programme includes Main instrument pedagogy as well as creative and pedagogical electives.
As a student, you choose one elective per academic year:
- Songwriting
- Composition
- Music Production
- Children’s Music
- Jazz/Pop Choir Directing
- Ensemble Leadership
- SSB Leadership
- Main Instrument Pedagogy (Advanced)
The FLEX course allows for further individually tailored specialization based on your own interests and goals.
The Entrepreneurship course gives you the skills to transform your artistic and pedagogical competencies into a sustainable professional career in music.
Meet a Former Student
Martin Bastiansen is a singer and songwriter. In June 2026, he graduated from the Soloist Programme at RAMA Aalborg. Prior to that, Martin completed both his bachelor’s and master’s studies in the Jazz/Pop programme in Aalborg.

Master’s Project
The Master’s Project is introduced during the first year through the course Artistic and Pedagogical Reflection, which enables you to critically and analytically evaluate both your own practice and that of others.
During the second year, you complete your Master’s Project within a self-chosen creative, performance-based, and/or pedagogical field of study.
Popular project topics include songwriting, composition, and the development of new music education teaching materials.
