Song, Dance and Play

The Song, Dance and Play major is designed for students who wish to qualify for a professional career as a musician.

The subject focuses on the development of the student’s artistic and creative practice, with particular emphasis on embodied musicality. Inspiration is drawn from rhythmic traditions in Africa, Cuba, and Brazil, alongside a solid understanding of Western musical forms.

The programme aims to support personal and embodied development, strengthening each musician’s ability to create, lead, and participate in musical communities. The result is musicians of a high artistic standard who are also able to communicate music and dance in an engaging and inclusive way.

Teaching is organised primarily as group instruction.
