Woodwinds

The Academy enjoys a vibrant music environment featuring chamber music, symphony and harmony orchestras, and collaboration projects with professional ensembles and orchestras. We regularly have master classes featuring international artists, and you may also get the opportunity to participate in an opera production.

Cross-disciplinary collaboration

We also collaborate closely with the Jazz/pop and Electronic music departments at the Academy who regularly make use of classical musicians in their projects. As a woodwind player, you also have good opportunities for finding collaboration partners yourself among the jazz/pop and electronic music students.

The pedagogical programmes are executed in collaboration with music schools and Academy preparation courses throughout the region.

Freedom of choice

At the Academy, we focus on artistic citizenship and wish to bring artistic processes into play in our surroundings. Electives are offered for this purpose as part of all Bachelor and Master programmes. Other electives support the interdisciplinary collaboration, pedagogical work or allow for specialization within contemporary music and chamber music, to name a few.

Soloist assignments

Following an audition, you may be selected for soloist assignments with both symphony orchestras and chamber orchestras. The Academy’s concert halls give you ample opportunity for playing and preparing for concerts and auditions.

Teachers

All teachers are musicians with solid experience from soloist, chamber music, and orchestra work, nationally and internationally. Most are soloists with professional Danish orchestras and ensembles.

Soloist tuition is based on the needs and level of each individual student.

The programme

The bachelor degree (BMus Orchestral Music) gives you the knowledge, skills, and qualifications necessary to become an orchestra musician, music teacher, and enterprising music industry player. The BMus programme is concluded with a bachelor project.

The subjects are:

  • Main study area: Subjects where you perform, as well as subjects that support this
  • Pedagogics: Subjects where you communicate and teach, as well as subjects that support this
  • General studies: Elementary music theory subjects
  • Entrepreneurial Studies: Subjects and projects that give you experience as an entrepreneur and similar
  • Electives: Specialization within your preferred field

Solo tuition is tailored to the individual student’s needs and level.

After completing the bachelor’s programme, students may apply for admission to the master’s programme at the Academy as an orchestral musician. However, it is also possible to apply for the master’s programmes in Aural Skills or Choral Conducting. Please note that these master’s programmes do not include an instrumental principal study subject.
