New China cooperation

On Monday, September 9, there was an official opening ceremony on a new collaboration between the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus/Aalborg and Peking University Opera Academy. The ceremony took place in Beijing with live connection to RAMA in Aarhus, from where principal Claus Olesen and head of study Robert Vinther attended via a big screen. In Beijing, both students and teachers from China participated.

The new program, the Sino-Euro Opera Orchestra Academy, is a so-called joint study program between the two music academies for Chinese singers and instrumental students who want to specialize in the opera genre. A total of 10 Chinese students are now starting the new programme, and new entry exams will be held after New Year.

The program is offered at the master’s level. A considerable part of the teaching staff is RAMA lectures using distance learning. The latest technology for worldwide transmission of sound and live stream thus forms the backbone of the new educational collaboration. However, the Chinese students also come to Aarhus on shorter project stays.

The education in China is housed in the brand new and spectacular Langfang Silk Road International Cultural Exchange Center (photo).
