Chinese Evening
The Academy has, in recent years, welcomed a number of students from China. At this concert, the audience will meet one of them – pianist Li Wen, who is currently studying in the soloist class, the highest level at the conservatory.
Li Wen performs together with her compatriot, soprano Song Lu. Together, they will present twelve classical Chinese songs spanning a wide stylistic range. The program includes excerpts from Chinese operas as well as beloved Chinese art songs, offering the Danish audience a unique musical journey into the richness of the Chinese vocal tradition.

Li Wen, piano
Song Lu, a soprano, graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen in 2023, where she trained under renowned vocal instructors Bodil Øland, Signe Asmussen Manuitt, and Maren Marie Tange. She has presented solo recitals across Denmark, garnering widespread critical acclaim. As both a recitalist and opera singer, she has been active on the international stage, performing leading roles in over a dozen operas, including The Marriage of Figaro.
Her accolades include First Prize at the 39th Bellini International Vocal Competition in Italy and the Opera Performance Award at the inaugural China Opera Festival. In addition to her performing career, Song Lu has also worked as an opera director. Last year, her production of The Legend of Three Gorges in China was met with great success.
Li Wen began studying music at an early age and earned her bachelor’s degree from the China Conservatory of Music. She continued her graduate studies at the Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium, studying piano performance under Søren Rastogi and Martin Qvist Hanse, and graduated with top marks.
Li Wen has performed extensively, including the Chinese touring production of the Broadway musical Don Quixote, the OPUS Festival, and at major venues such as Guangzhou Opera House and Beijing Concert Hall. She has taught piano and ear training at Guangzhou Arts School, with students admitted to leading conservatories in China and the UK.
The concert is free, and you can just show up without a ticket. Please come early.
