Two programmes – multiple educational pathways
From the 2027/28 academic year, the Academy will consolidate several existing programmes into two degree programmes with different academic pathways spanning multiple musical genres.
Music Leadership: Three Pathways
The Music Leadership programme is designed for students who wish to work with music leadership in a variety of artistic, educational, and communicative contexts. Students choose to follow one of three pathways: General Music Leadership; Classical Choral Conducting; Jazz/Pop Choral Conducting
A number of courses are shared across year groups and across the three pathways. The programme thus combines the broad range of disciplines within the field of music leadership with specialised study within each pathway.
The General Music Leadership pathway combines a broad musical profile with opportunities to specialise in one or more leadership disciplines. The Jazz/Pop Choral Conducting and Classical Choral Conducting pathways allow students to specialise early in these respective fields.
The Music Leadership programme replaces the highly sought-after AM programme (General Music Leadership) at Bachelor’s level. At Master’s level, General Music Leadership, Classical Choral Conducting, and Jazz/Pop Choral Conducting will continue to be offered as separate degree programmes.

Creative Music Practice: A Master’s degree with two major subjects
In the Master’s programme in Creative Music Practice, students combine two major subjects with a number of elective courses. This allows students to design an individualised Master’s programme through a combination of nine different major subjects and a broad selection of electives.
The programme structure offers a high degree of flexibility. For example, it is possible to combine an instrumental major subject, such as Guitar, with the major subject Co-Creation, or Classical Composition with Song, Dance and Play. By combining multiple areas of specialisation, the programme is better aligned with the demands of today’s labour market.
The Master’s programme in Creative Music Practice brings together a number of the existing Master’s programmes at RAMA in Aarhus: RM, RMB, Composition (Classical, Jazz/Pop, and Electronic), and Songwriting. At the same time, these programmes will cease to exist as independent degree programmes from the 2027/28 academic year onwards.
