Harmony Festival – Young People Playing for Young People

Music festival during the day, Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Royal Academy of Music, Musikkens Hus, Aalborg

At the Harmony Festival, a young audience gets the chance during the day to drop by the music conservatory in Aalborg’s beautiful concert hall and meet talented and highly skilled musicians who are roughly their own age.

The festival is especially aimed at young people who have chosen music as an active subject at, for example, high schools, folk high schools, etc. But everyone, regardless of age and background, is very welcome!

Through a series of short concerts, the students offer a taste of what can be experienced in the many evening concerts the conservatory hosts each semester.

There will also be an opportunity to meet students and teachers, while getting a sense of the concert halls that are also used for the conservatory’s other performances throughout the academic year.

A Wide Range of Music

The day features several different bands and soloists performing a wide variety of music. All performers are students at the conservatory in Aalborg, and the audience will experience the broad musical spectrum the students represent — from straight-up rock in various forms to singer/songwriter, jazz, funk, soul, electronic, and ambient music … and everything in between!

A total of 11 bands and soloists will each present a compact 20-minute set. The stage program continuously alternates between the Rhythmic Hall, Classical Hall, and Fjord Stage in Musikkens Hus. A complete overview with program descriptions for all sets can be found on the conservatory’s website.

Visit from Italy

Among the many bands is Urban Quartet from the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome. The quartet blends classical jazz with other elements and experiments with rhythm and harmony.

The visit is an example of the conservatory’s many international collaborations, including with Saint Louis in Rome. All four musicians are alumni of Saint Louis, have performed at Italy’s most prestigious festivals, and received excellent reviews for their debut album Sofà featuring jazz icon Max Ionata. Urban Quartet performs on the Fjord Stage at 1:45 PM.
