Panoramafestival 2024: First Carrier Bag

A carrier bag full of new music

Panorama Festival is an annual festival at Academy organized by composer students from the Academy ‘s classical department, with music by the students themselves.

The festival reflects the current class of classical composers – a diverse and composite group working in and between written score music, performance, video/audio playback, solo works, and chamber orchestra pieces.

As an attempt to avoid an overshadowing or too totalizing festival theme, the festival borrows the concept ‘carrier bag’ from the American author Ursula K. Le Guin. The carrier bag is exactly something, which doesn’t define or predetermine its own content, but a soft shape which is open towards different content. A festival can be a carrier bag, a concert can be a carrier bag, a piece can be a carrier bag, and the audience can be a carrier bag as well for new thoughts and experiences.

The festival offers a total of six concerts from Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 March.
Most of the musicians are current students at the Academy.
