The Civil Cervant Duo
Ulrik Spang-Hanssen (b. 1953) and Niels-Ole Bo Johansen (b. 1961) first met in 1984. They were both employed as professional musicians on the island of Funen: Ulrik as an orga-nist in the town of Assens and Niels-Ole as a trombonist in the Funen Regiment’s Military Band in Odense. Their collaboration started in the band “Jazzbones” (4 trombones and a rhythm section). Later that year, at a summer concert in Assens, it became apparent that the personal chemistry between the two was an exceptionally good match, which to a great extent explains why they have performed together for more than 40 years now.
Content:
Poul Ruders (b. 1949): “Double Entry”
Erik Bach (b. 1946): “Toccata”
Ole Schmidt (1928-2010): “Sonata for Trombone and Organ”
