Soloist Concert – Vincent Hahn, trumpet

Almost like the forest is holding its breath

Trumpeter Vincent Hahn and singer Iina Johanson (FIN) explore how sound, space and the presence of others shape the way we listen.

The project begins with Hahn’s experience of church spaces: their stillness, their resonance, and their capacity to hold people together. It follows a personal thread from his early experiences of faith to his practice of meditation, alongside Johanson’s poetry and their shared interest in nature.

Breath is central to their work. It connects the body to the elements around us and makes small changes in effort, rhythm and attention audible. Through breathing, silence and repetition, the musicians explore the relationship between individual bodies and shared spaces. The placement of performers and listeners becomes part of the composition.

Developed during a week of collaboration in Aarhus, the performance asks what gives a place a sense of the sacred, and how that experience could emerge through a concert.

The title is taken from a poem entitled Still by Iina Johanson.
