Experience the raw energy and boundless creativity of Grupo UPA! – lead by Federico Trindade

UPA! is a 12-member independent musical ensemble that showcases the voice as its primary instrument, seamlessly blending a cappella performances with occasional incorporations of percussion and body rhythm, alongside the accompaniment of piano and acoustic guitar in their vocal arrangements.

In May 2024, they’ll embark on a thrilling journey to Denmark for the prestigious Aarhus Vocal Festival (AAVF), presenting their showcase ‘Ao Vivo e Em Cores’ (‘Live and in Colors’), featuring meticulously crafted arrangements by the innovative minds of Pablo and Federico Trindade.

Since its foundation in 2009, UPA! has worked to honor and celebrate the culture of Brazil and Latin America, pulsating with the vibrant, strong, dense, and colorful rhythms of their heritage – from ijexá, maracatu, baião and samba to tango and zamba. Their repertoire, a tapestry woven from the masterpieces of icons like Milton Nascimento, Lenine, Djavan, Marisa Monte, Gilberto Gil, and Dominguinhos, is further enriched by the poetic resonance of Alfonsina Storni and Eduardo Galeano.

But UPA! offers more than written music – they invite audiences to immerse themselves in the captivating world of ‘Circle Songs’, where every performance is a spontaneous creation, guided by the innovative technique of Vocal Painting (VOPA), pioneered by Jim Daus Hjernøe (DK) from RAMA.

Join UPA! for an unforgettable journey through the heart of Brazilian and Latin-American musical expression!
