Akabanga & friends – a different term concert

Guitarist, etc. Mikas Bøgh Olesen studies in the soloist class at RAMA. Throughout his time at the Academy, he has been deeply interested in music from other parts of the world, not least from Africa, which he has visited several times.

This is his term concert, created together with his band Akabanga.

AKABANGA
Constantly exploring the new streams and beats from the african diaspora, Akabanga challenges the possibilities of modern beat music played with live instruments. With their curiosity and excitement for creating the ultimate ecstasy, Akabanga never hesitates to draw inspiration from different street parties throughout the globe. Whether it’s Baila Funk, Gqom or Balani, they melt it into their own distinct and original club music, giving rumours to their rare and crazy liveshows. Hotter than fire and sicker than a hospital. This vibe will make you move.

DJ JOLIE
Based in Copenhagen, born in Aarhus and of Tanzanian descent, Jolie explores sounds from Africa and the African Diaspora. From beats with Highlife samples to Gqom, Kuduro and beyond, she aspires to bring you unique selections, old and new that are not necessarily found on the top music charts. She is an upcoming DJ but not new to music spreading heaps of knowledge, range and soul.

DJ KADDI SAWANEH
Kaddijatou Sawaneh is a Copenhagen based DJ with roots in Gambia. Kaddi is a multi-genre Dj who has love for Afrobeats, Hip Hop, Trap, Neo Soul, Amapiano and RnB. Her career started in 2020 and she has since been playing at festivals, events, clubs and been supporting international artist such as; Rema, Kesi, Sivas, Lucky Daye, D Smoke, Masego, L.A.X, Lojay, Cordae, Icekiid “Investing my energy in keeping the good music and vibes flowing is essential for my sets. I want people to feel good and free”.

With Chika Obasi as their mentor/choreographer they channel their passion and create performances that leave an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to witness.
