An Evening with Trombones – masterclass concert
This week, the classical trombone students at the Academy are participating in a masterclass with renowned English trombone professor Chris Houlding. The concert will feature works that the students have been working on during the masterclass.
Chris Houlding is a highly respected and exceptionally experienced trombonist. He made his orchestral debut at the age of 21 with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the legendary conductor Celibidache. Since then, he has performed as principal trombone with most of the leading British orchestras as well as several international ensembles, under world-famous conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Bernard Haitink, and Lorin Maazel.
Alongside his performing career, Chris Houlding has built an extensive teaching portfolio, both as a permanent faculty member and guest lecturer at numerous music conservatories. He is currently Professor of Trombone and Brass Ensemble at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany. In addition, he is active as both a conductor and soloist.
The concert is free, and you can just show up without a ticket. Please come early.
