New Head of Studies in Aarhus and Holstebro
In August, Anders Ørbæk will take up the position as the new Head of Studies for a range of programs at the Academy in Aarhus and Holstebro.
As Head of Studies, Anders will take on the daily responsibility for the management and development of the Academy’s programs in Aarhus within songwriting and composition – both classical, pop/jazz, and electronic music – as well as the new program Music and Co-Creation in Holstebro.
Extensive Experience
A well-known figure in the field is stepping into the role of managing these programs from August. Anders Ørbæk brings extensive experience from various branches of the music and cultural sector, including four years as the leader of the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra.
Ørbæk comes from a position as the head of Odder Music School and Creative School in Odder. He is a board member at the music venue RADAR and has previously served as chairman of the board for the genre organization JazzDanmark and as vice-chairman for the Aarhus Jazz Festival. In addition, he has been an entrepreneur and project manager for a wide range of events, concerts, and cultural projects.
The Academy looks forward to benefiting from Anders’ many years of experience with staff management, operations and development, finance, and more.
Exciting Developments
The new Head of Studies will face an exciting role in developing the field, including working with a number of new subject coordinators for the various programs. Not least, he will focus on consolidating the program in Holstebro, where we are pleased to welcome seven new students as the program enters its third year.
Furthermore, the academy has recently completed a new strategy, building on the concept of artistic citizenship, with an increased focus on socially engaged activities, as well as diversity and equality. Anders Ørbæk will be a key player in realizing this strategy through the development of the programs in close collaboration with the broader community, students, faculty, study coordinators, and the rest of the leadership team. Anders will be present alternately at both locations in Aarhus and Holstebro.
Anders Ørbæk is 39 years old and trained as a musician/music pedagogue as well as a psychologist. Upon taking up his new role as Head of Studies, he will step down from his position on the board of RAMA, to which he was appointed by the Minister of Culture in 2023.
