Kristian Steenstrup: Pièces de Concours, vol. 2

This current compilation of recordings is the second in a series of original compositions for trumpet or cornet and piano, originating from the concours of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. The concours were annual examinations that assessed musical and technical proficiency by evaluating a solo performance of a chosen composition. Initially, the compositions were created by either the professor of trumpet or cornet, and later by composers hired by the Conservatoire. While our initial recording, Piéces de Concours, included 8 previously unreleased recordings out ofthe 11 compositions presented, the current publication, Pièces de Concours, vol. 2, exclusively features world premiere recordings of solos composed between 1877 and 1978.
