RAMA students at new festival with great musicians
In 2019, a completely new music festival was born in Aarhus: Aarhus Chamber Music Festival. The festival will spread the joy of the intimate form of music that chamber music is, i.a. by presenting young talents.
For the second year the festival takes place in Music Hall Aarhus on Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September and features top level young Danish talents, such as cellist Jonathan Swensen, violinist Anna Egholm and pianist David Munk-Nielsen.
There are also more experienced musicians such as the clarinetist Mathias Kjøller from Aarhus Symphony and not least the Russian David Oistrakh String Quartet, which is participating in four of the seven concerts at the festival. The Oistrakh Quartet is internationally renowned for its high technical level and passionate and temperamental playing.
The festival is set up and led by a small group of young musicians, two of whom are students at RAMA: Elle-Riin Volmer and Tony Nguyen. In addition, three RAMA students participate as musicians at the festival, and also this year’s festival composer, Magnus Plejdrup, is a student at RAMA.
Aarhus Chamber Music Festival is arranged in collaboration with RAMA and Music Hall Aarhus and is supported by i.a. Toyota Foundation, Knud Højgaard Foundation, Augustinus Foundation and others as well as by Aarhus Municipality and the Ministry of Culture.
