There is a lot happening in chamber music at RAMA. Tomorrow, Thursday 5 February, the conservatory will for the first time hold an internal chamber music competition. The aim is to further inspire and develop the chamber music environment at RAMA.<\/p>\n
The competition is open to all types of chamber ensembles, and all classical students at the Academy have had the opportunity to participate. The winning ensemble will subsequently be guaranteed several concerts, including performances at the Artos Festival and the Aarhus Chamber Music Festival.<\/p>\n
A surprisingly large number of ensembles have registered for the competition, says Anders Lyngh\u00f8j, Head of Studies for the Classical Department. \u201cIt is wonderful to see such strong interest in playing chamber music; a total of 17 ensembles are taking part. In chamber music, you enter a strongly committed collaboration with just a few fellow students, and you sharpen your ability to listen to one another.\u201d<\/p>\n
The competition is also open to the public, who will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of young chamber music ensembles competing against each other. Admission is free, and audiences are welcome to come and go between the individual performances from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Symphonic Hall at Musikhuset Aarhus.<\/p>\n
Already the following day, over the weekend of 6\u20138 February, the Academy will host a Chamber Music Camp for young classical musicians with several years of experience on their instruments. Here, the young participants can meet and play together with peers who share the same interest.<\/p>\n
The Chamber Music Camp concludes with a free public concert on Sunday 8 February at 3:00 p.m. in the Chamber Music Hall at Musikhuset Aarhus. The camp has been established by a group of musicians in collaboration with RAMA in Aarhus and Aarhus Music School, with generous support from private foundations.<\/p>\n
Two weeks later, over the weekend of 21\u201322 February, RAMA will host the Jakob Gade Chamber Music Competition, a nationwide competition for young talented musicians aged 12 to 21 with an interest in playing chamber music.<\/p>\n
Admission is free for the public, both to the competition on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., to a jazz concert on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. featuring participants from a parallel jazz workshop, and to the prize concert on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Chamber Music Hall at Musikhuset Aarhus.<\/p>\n
The competition is a collaboration between the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus (DJM) and the Jacob Gade Foundation.<\/p>\n
