Composers and performers will interact and inspire one another while working on the different aspects of creating and interpreting compositions for string instruments.<\/p>\n<p>The festival also aims to compare differences in Scandinavian and American styles and traditions. The courses and events will feature advanced conservatory and university students and professionals in addition to faculty.<\/p>\n<p>The festival was for the first time held in Aarhus in 2016, in a collaboration between The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus\/Aalborg, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stonybrook.edu\/commcms\/music\/index.shtml\">Stony Brook University<\/a>, New York and the association Ny Musik for Strygere in Aarhus.<\/p>\n<p>Visit the festival&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newmusicforstrings.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>NMfS is\u00a0 main organizer of the annual festival.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NMFS 2018<\/strong><br \/>\nIn 2018 the festival was again held in Aarhus, Denmark, 11-19 August and in Reykjavik, Iceland, 20-25 august.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NMFS 2021-22<\/strong><br \/>\nIn 2021 and 2022 the festival again appeared in Aarhus, Denmark, and also in Copenhagen (2021).<br \/>\nMore info on the festival website or in the menu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The vision behind New Music for Strings is to create an interdisciplinary space between the fields of string instrument performance and composition.
