{"id":560,"date":"2019-06-12T11:16:38","date_gmt":"2019-06-12T09:16:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musikkons.dk\/?page_id=560"},"modified":"2025-03-10T09:16:26","modified_gmt":"2025-03-10T08:16:26","slug":"diploma-course-in-church-music","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/musikkons.dk\/en\/programmes\/further-educations\/diploma-prof-master\/diploma-course-in-church-music\/","title":{"rendered":"Diploma Course in Church Music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>60 ECTS, part-time study<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The aim of this study course is to develop the artistic, instrumental, theoretical and leadership skills helping the students to achieve a high professional level and thus a greater insight into their professional work for the benefit of the continuous development of church music in Denmark.<\/p>\n<p>The study course is finalized with an examination that in case of a satisfactory mark makes the students eligible to continue their education at the Academy\u2019s master degree programme in church music.<\/p>\n<h4>About the Study Course<\/h4>\n<p>The diploma course in church music includes training in principal studies such as artistic play, church play, theory and choir conducting as well as electives in piano and ear training. A certain number of classes are also dedicated to guidance for individual studies in supporting subjects such as liturgy, psalm and organ studies and history of music, so that in the long run, the diploma course corresponds to the bachelor study programme in church music within basic study programmes.<\/p>\n<p>The study course duration is one year, but it may be divided over two years due to the high demands for preparation.<\/p>\n<h4>Admission Requirements<\/h4>\n<p>In order to be admitted on the study course, it is necessary to have passed a PO exam at one of the Danish church music schools or have a corresponding foreign education. Applicants must also be able to document at least a 2-year relevant professional experience (full time). If these requirements are met, the applicant may prepare for the entry auditions that correspond to the Academy\u2019s entry auditions.<\/p>\n<h4>Admission<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/musikkons.dk\/en\/programmes\/admission\/\">Apply online<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/musikkons.dk\/en\/programmes\/admission\/\">Admission deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Examination in Organ Playing<\/h4>\n<p>1) A self-elected musical piece with the following degree of difficulty:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Buxtehude: Prelude, fugue and ciacona C-dur, BuxWV 137.<\/li>\n<li>V. L\u00fcbeck: Prelude E-dur.<\/li>\n<li>J.S. Bach: Prelude and fugue C-dur, BWV 545.<\/li>\n<li>F. Mendelssohn: Sonata c-mol.<\/li>\n<li>C. Franck: Prelude, fugue et variation.<\/li>\n<li>P. Hindemith: Sonata II.<\/li>\n<li>J. Langlais: from Hommage \u00e0 Frescobaldi: Fantaisie or Th\u00e8me et variations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2) A list of 5 smaller musical pieces from different stylistic periods (e.g. choral with grace notes with easier ternary forms). Examiners select 1 musical piece from the list and the applicant must thereafter be informed about the musical piece.<\/p>\n<p>3) A prepared choral piece with pedal from the Danish choral book must be played with a prelude and must be performed as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>choral play (1 manual + pedal)<\/li>\n<li>melody play (2 manuals + pedal)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>4) Applicants receive a 2-period choral melody with 4-movement harmonization, the other only with melody that must be harmonized on spot (with a pedal).<\/p>\n<p>5) Sight playing: organ composition without pedal and a simple choral with pedal.<\/p>\n<p>6) An obligatory task that the applicant is informed about 10 days prior the entry examination corresponding to the degree of difficulty to Franz Tunder: Prelude in G (Bechmann 2),<\/p>\n<p>Buxtehude: Ein feste Burg, BuxWV 184 or J.S. Bach: Prelude and fugue E-mol, BWV 533.<\/p>\n<h4>Theoretical Examination<\/h4>\n<p>Harmonization of a simple choral with 4-movements.<\/p>\n<h4>Tution Fee<\/h4>\n<p>The total cost for the study course is DKK 47 600 according to Danish legislation on higher education.
