They were both em\u00adployed as professional musicians on the island of Funen: Ulrik as an orga-nist in the town of Assens and Niels-Ole as a trombonist in the Funen Regiment\u2019s Military Band in Odense. Their collaboration started in the band \u201cJazzbones\u201d (4 trombones and a rhythm section).
