Her work builds upon concepts and methodologies of post-phenomenology and cultural theory, and she is currently involved in two interdisciplinary research groups at Stony Brook University: Applied Aesthetics and Embodied Cognition.<\/p>\n<p>Lochhead has articles appearing in such journals as Music Theory Spectrum, the Journal of the American Musicological Society, Music Theory Online, Theory and Practice, In Theory Only, and in various edited collections. With Joseph Auner, Lochhead co-edited Postmodern Music\/Postmodern Thought (Routledge 2001).<\/p>\n<p>Some recent work includes: \u201cTechn\u0113 of Radiance: Kaija Saariaho\u2019s Lonh,\u201d \u201cDifference Inhabits Repetition: Sofia Gubaidulina\u2019s Second String Quartet,\u201d and \u201cChaotic Mappings: on the ground with music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lochhead teaches courses in music theory and music history at Stony Brook University, where she served as departmental chair for nine years and currently serves as Graduate Program Director.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Judy Lochhead is theorist and musicologist whose work focuses on the most recent musical practices in North America and Europe, with particular emphasis on music of the western classical tradition.
